Our very own Jemma Rix from Stourgarden, will be joining her best friend, Lauren, on the journey of a lifetime! Jemma Rix is very near and dear to our hearts, as we have a special connection to her hometown. My late father and a produce industry Canada to US fair trade pioneer, (Victor Steele) grew up in Essex, which is the same area in which our Pink Onions are grown by Stourgarden family farm. Through our Pink Onion collaboration with Jemma (Stourgarden), we have grown to become great family friends with Jemma and her family! Stourgarden shares the same values as we do; work hard, play hard, always giving back. For us, giving back gives us the purpose to keep moving forward, the purpose to stay positive, the purpose to LIVE!
Jemma and Lauren decided to take the opportunity of a life time and take on the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge. The Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge is a once in a life time adventure where contestants get to row in a race for the charity of their choosing. Jemma and Lauren will be the 8th ever female pair to row (unassisted) 3,000 miles across the Atlantic from La Gomera, Spain to Antigua. Pushing the boundaries of the mind, body, & soul, these women will risk it all to show their support for the charities they love, not to mention, going for a breaking world record!!
